A panel discussion on “Mindful CEO”
August 13, 2016: A panel discussion on “Mindful CEO” was organized at Druk Ralung Shedrup Choling monastery today. The panelists included His Eminence Gyalwa Dokhampa, Aum Phub Zam, President of Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Piyush Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of DBS , Singapore and the session was moderated by Ashi Kesang Choden T. Wangchuck.
The panelists shared their experiences and views on how the practice of meditation helped them to grow as a business person. Some of the highlights that came out of discussion were - how important it is to be in the moment and the ability to create enabling environment to embrace, adapt and respond to change; the importance of focusing on what can be done and not worrying about what is not doable; the need to be careful in dealing with customers; the importance to inculcate values such as integrity, hard work and perseverance in the company; the willingness to take corporate social responsibilities instead of only focusing on the profit; the need to practice compassion while running a business and putting ourselves in the shoes of others.
Discussions also revolved around how important it is to recognize our emotions because our own emotions can play against our goal. And a Mindful CEO would also see the good things rather than only focusing on the negative aspects. Most important of all, a good Boss should have the ability to utilize the available resources to benefit everyone.
